‘Tired’ is Chantelle’s first release, carefully orchestrated by prolific producer Jasper Wilde and released under the award-winning mental health charity Key Changes record label.
“It’s about a rough patch in my relationship, though it can also apply to any situation people are becoming tired about which is becoming toxic, and unless you do something about it nothing’s going to change”. Indeed, “independence”, “self-actualisation” and “over-coming” are all themes which propagate throughout Chantelle’s writing process, and are very much in tune with the challenges young people face this increasingly modern world.
However, despite the collective chaos experienced by her youthful peers, Chantelle’s involvement with Key Changes is of deeply personal origin, given that she herself suffers a variety of symptoms of mental ill-health. “I want to eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health, Chantelle states determinedly, echoing her desire to increase the awareness of the angst still experienced within her LGBT community.
Certainly, it is an epoch which requires a radical shift in perspective, a dose of reality, and renewed respect for individuals’ unique situations, and Chantelle intends to add her voice to that discourse through the medium of her fascinating musical palette and passionate emphasis on realism.
