North London street poetess Yella Tzairi’s blues-tinged hip hop lyrics refect on love and spirituality triumphing over despair
Daniella Tzairi, musically known as Yella Tzairi, is a a singer songwriter hailing from London. Born and raised in Camden, Yella has a family of Staffordshire bull terriers, going back 6 generations. Dogs are a massive part of Yella’s life, and she believe they taught her how to love. Yella remarks that “If you look into their eyes you can see their soul.”
Yella grew up around music, with various school contemporaries going on to music industry success. She started writing poetry in school, with her first poem, “My Eyes See Beyond” being about a boy in her school who was bullied.
Yella’s work with Key Changes reflects her journey through mental health recovery and focuses on the spectrum of challenges and emotions and she has encountered. The work fuses hip hop, pop, poetry and punk in an irresistibly funky mix that preaches equality and reaches the soul.
